June 13, 2022

  1. Welcome-Attendance-Lisa Brown, Monica Horsley, Jessica Serota, Lisa Taylor

  2. Call to Order-5:48pm

  3. Old Business

  1. Carnival- Big hit!!! Thanks for help with popsicles!

  1. New Business-Topics to be discussed:

    1. Form committees-tabled until we have more board members present

    2. Upcoming PTA event dates

      1. Meet and Greet-Tuesday, August 9th

      2. Back to School Night/Open House-Week of August 22nd or 29th

    3. Upcoming PTA meeting dates-Meetings will be held on the third Wednesday of the month –

Upcoming PTA dates:

8/9- PTA tables at Meet the Teacher Day to promote PTA and sell memberships

8/17-First Meeting

8/19- Dance Party in Gym

8/22-9/2 Pizza Card Fundraiser

8/22 or 8/29 week of- Open House

9/21- Meeting/ Meet and Greet @OV?

10/19- BINGO??/ Meeting

11/16-Board Meeting & 6pm Movie Night

12/7-Fish Fry

  1. Create new membership form- tabled until we have more board members present

  2. Budget - tabled until we have more board members present

  3. Florida PTA training/duties - tabled until we have more board members present-did share that it would be a great team building opportunity


  1. Fundraisers

    1. PTA shirts-Jessica will look into a design with Amy at Ugly Fish. Important for board members to be seen and recognizable. 

    2. PKS magnets/bracelets-Lisa will look into magnets to sell at Vistaprint.com. Bracelets were not a big hit of an idea.

  2. Side notes: 

    1. Next Board Summer Meeting- 1st week of August- August 3rd?

    2. Dance Party in August to kick off school year with Panther Pride.  Get a DJ and have kids come to gym during special time and have a dance party.  PTA will pay for DJ and decorate gym.  Have “PKS Panther” in attendance. Great way to kick off a new year!

    3. Fish Fry- need a barrier between our area and guest area.  Suggested using rebar and orange mesh fencing as a temporary barrier.  Will look into a “construction” parent for donations/set-up.

    4. Add two movie nights to the calendar.

    5. Update website and create a hyperlink from pkspta.com to MCSD/PKS page with link.  Update board members and upcoming events.

    7. Two categories created for PTA events:

Spirit Raising: Dance Party, Movie Night, Bingo (Halloween and Spring), *Teacher Appreciation

Money Raising: Pizza Cards, *Fish Fry, *Color Run, *Spring Fundraiser, Spirit Store, and Amazon Smile 

(all marked with * need a committee chairperson)

Also discussed idea of having a Walk-a-thon as a fundraiser.
